Varnish Software Kicks Off 10th Anniversary Celebration of Varnish Cache
Oslo, London, Stockholm, Paris and New York – February 22, 2016 – Varnish Software, a leader in web architecture performance, celebrated today’s 10th Anniversary of Varnish Cache by announcing 10 months’ worth of activities that spotlight the best of Varnish Cache. Community members are encouraged to participate in a Twitter campaign while Varnish Software will recognize the top contributors to Varnish Cache and the best use cases.
Join the celebration on Twitter (@VarnishCache) for a chance to win a Swiss Army knife featuring the Varnish Cache logo! Submit your Varnish use case in max 140 characters using #Varnish10years.
Varnish Cache boosts the performance of more than 2.2 million websites worldwide, serving up web content faster and decreasing server load to handle significantly more traffic. Varnish Cache is currently used by many of the world’s most influential websites such as Newsday, Whitehouse.gov, The New York Times, Morningstar, Vimeo, The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Die Zeit, Schibsted Media Group, and many more.
“When we started the Varnish Cache project ten years ago there was no solution in the market focused on accelerating web content using reverse proxy. Varnish Cache had a tremendous impact, empowering small and medium sized websites to easily reach a worldwide audience,” said Per Buer, Varnish Software CTO. “Today Varnish Cache is scaling the performance of more than 2 million websites, including many of the world’s most demanding properties, a proud accomplishment for those early innovators as well as the entire community of contributors.”
Community participation
Varnish Software invites the Varnish Cache open source community to join this celebration by participating in the kick-off on Twitter. Simply tweet to @VarnishCache using #Varnish10years and share your best 140-character use case of how Varnish Cache has made an impact upon YOUR website. You have until Monday March 7th to submit your use case and receive one of 10 Swiss Army knives we are giving away for the best Varnish Cache use case.
