Earlier this year, Intel Labs conducted a series of rigorous tests to validate the cost and carbon reduction benefits of Varnish Software on SuperMicro hardware. These tests, performed on standard SuperMicro-based systems without hardware acceleration, yielded exceptional power efficiency results. Intel's 2024 data revealed a staggering 95% power cost savings and a 95% reduction in carbon footprint. Over a five-year period, delivering 1 Tbs/PoP, the study projected energy cost savings exceeding $127,000 USD and a reduction in carbon emissions from 207.37 to 12.54 tCO2e.

"By leveraging mature software, the Linux OS, and associated hardware infrastructure, Varnish Software has achieved a 20x reduction in resources required for network throughput, and a corresponding 20x reduction in energy usage and carbon emissions."
